I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status)

Definition

A document issued to an international student by an institution authorized by Student Exchange and Visitor Programs (SEVP) to enroll international students.  To be issued an I-20 the student must be admitted to a program and provide proof of adequate financial support. This document is needed to apply for an F-1 visa.
