A new undergraduate student enrolled in a degree-granting program for the first time. When enrollment occurs in summer, students are still considered new freshman in the subsequent fall.

The UW System English Placement Test is a test used for the purpose of placing native English-speaking students into a course that satisfies the Communication A general education requirement or determines whether the requirement is satisfied by sufficiently high scores. The test is required of all matriculated new freshmen and some transfer students. The test has a possible score of 150-850.

UW System Math Placement Test

The UW System Math Placement Test is a test used for the purpose of placing students into the appropriate first math course and required of all matriculated new freshmen and some transfer students. The test consists of three components (math fundamentals, algebra, trigonometry) each with possible score of 150-850.
