Important Notes

This workbook shows budget data by fund, fund category, program code, and major class. This budget data is the submitted and approved budget by UW-Madison and UW System and does not include budget transfers, adjustments, and in-the-year edits. The main purpose of this workbook is to display the de-pooled budget, which we call the Source of Funds (SOF). The SOF budget identifies original fund sources while a pooled budget will be what is shown in our accounting ledgers and campus financial tools, combining multiple sources of revenue into the general fund (101).

This workbook also identifies changes in UW-Madison’s pooled General Purpose Revenue (GPR) budget over time. UW-Madison combines the GPR (Fund 101) allocation with revenues received from tuition (Fund 131), a portion of federal indirect cost reimbursements (Fund 150), and operational receipts (Fund 136).

This workbook can be used to do the following:

1. Review trends of the pooling of campus revenues and their sources: Funds 131, 136, and 150.

2. Determine the tuition target or pool requirement.

3. Review the de-pooled budget allocation received from the state: Fund 101.

4. Reconcile the planned budget pooling submission to UW System with the budget data loaded.

This data can be used to inform and populate campus data reporting in the Budget in Brief, Data Digest, reporting to external agencies, etc.
